Saturday Seafood Buffet @ Royale Chulan Penang

Life is short and too boring to have the daily routine, so taking a hiatus of nearly six months and this time I decided to come back with a buffet spread! Stepping into working society had made me treasure the wonderful weekends, spending quality time with another part of the society because I love new discovery. (and to cut off phone time as well).

So I got to feast on seafood buffet at Royale Chulan Penang, it's perfectly scheduled on Saturdays where I'm able to join the crowd with beloved ones in the evening. Here's some highlights I had in the evening.

Calamari with Olvies and Basil Pesto, Mixed Seafood Terrine Platter

Main, salmon, seafood corner, fish head curry

Seafood Paella
I'd had few positive feedback for this, a good start

Grilled Seabass with Orange Beurre Blanc

Flower Crab Alfredo with Fusilli Pasta
When it comes to seafood, Japanese station is surely a staple including various kinds of sashimi and sushi.

I eye on the scallop after the the big snapper though!
However, I'd prefer to have scallop mornay, serving in the buffet too.

The tako is definitely one of the highlight of the buffet

Assorted Sushi featuring Ebiko Sushi, Inari Sushi, Tuna Sushi

Action Station also catered for selected seafood including:
Baked Whole Chilled Salmon with Chives, Sour Cream and Honey Mustard
This is simply to everyon's liking I suppose.
The chef will carefully serve you with some wedges and condiment, making it just right for every bite.

Stir Fry Chili Crab
The gravy is something make me feel tantalising!

Fish Head Curry
Asian being asian, it's best paired with white rice!

Dessert, ice kacang ice cream etc

Seafood buffet shouldn't missing out dessert for the diners.
I guess we need some sweet after the savoury on the fresh catch.

Apple Struddel

Pineapple Upside Down Cake

You may get to DIY ice kacang and customise the topping as well.

And of course, tea and coffee are also served in case you're craving for some caffeine. Why not get some fruits to boost some fibre too? So much glad to have my favourite jackfruit in the buffet too.

Friday's Flavours of 7 Continents @ Royale Chulan Penang

It's been a while for a buffet dinner. I really have the love-hate relationship on it because the desire to eat is always against with my diet limit. I tend to fall for the former, usually, all because of YOLO concept in my soul😝 A competitive caterer must be innovative in order to win people's attention first and foremost, thus, under the concept of global taste, I have "7 Continents Buffet Dinner" by Royale Chulan Penang.

Japanese Semi Buffet for RM 39 Promo, Your Mum Sure Say JOM!

Mother's Day Promotion: RM 39 nett for Japanese Semi Buffet

Guess that the title above says it all but it's the end! I'm going to extent more about the value of this promotion in conjunction with Mother's Day. RM 39 nett per pax for Japanese semi buffet would be one of the best deals in town, I suppose.

It's been sometime The TOP at Komtar open its door to public back in year end 2016, expecting to bring out new face of good old days of Komtar to the Penangites. As far as we know, The TOP serve premium buffet at 59 Sixty Dining Room, Jurassic Research Centre, Rainbow Skywalk. In fact, there are some yet to widely known by the public, for instance, Japan Food Street.

Sentuhan Air Tangan Ibu @ Umi, The TOP Komtar

Just so you know Malaysians are always proud of the nation food that is famed worldwide, it's an all-time homesick factor to the those who're far away from the country. Let's just be true, how much do you really understand or tasted before the local cuisine other than your own ethnic? I'm none other than the most of the citizen where to me the most frequent is those on mamak stall.

The TOP @ Komtar Level 5 brings up an opportunity to the visitors for a taste of traditional Malay cuisine. It is outstanding with the dining atmosphere ala kampung under the roof of all-new amusement hall, expected to see some real-size figurine that definitely catch your attention as you pass by Umi.

5 MUST-DOs at Ramadan Buffet 2018 (In order to stretch Ringgit)

Replacing "what" with "how" to make up "You are HOW you eat" which kicks start for the following....
Apart of (boring, I think) dining routine include rounds and rounds of food, do you really aware some new, fun and practical ways to indulge into an evening of buffet presentation wholeheartedly prepared by the chef and culinary arts team?

Assorted Kerabu including flavours like Ikan Bilis, Ikan Kembung, Ayam and Sotong

Here's my humble sharing on how to truly enjoy feasting for Ramadan buffet themed "Sajian Laut, Selera Kampung Nelayan" at Lexis Suites Penang,  maximizing the value of Ringgit which you deserve it. To date, Ramadan buffet is not skeptically about Malay dishes but also fusion and wonderful nostalgia that held throughout the evening at the dining hall. (Roselle Coffee House, Level 1)

7 Highlights: Japanese Buffet Dinner 🍴 SPOON, G Hotel Kelawai

With the wide acceptance of foreign cuisine by the community, it has becoming one of the common choices to select for a meal. For instance, Korean cuisine, especially, is flooded with buffet style BBQ promotion from time to time. Just my two-cents, Japanese cuisine buffet is mostly served in hotel with a relatively lower publicity and not to mention, the not-so strategic dining location to the locals especially.

Here to present 7 highlights that I found in Japanese themed buffet that is simply convincing toward your dine-in moment spent at Spoon Cafe (G Hotel Kelawai, Level 2).

1. Elimination of Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) and Alcohol
In the practice of healthy diet concept, there is no any flavour enhancers (commonly known as MSG) added in the food preparation. It's purely the art work of Executive Sous Chef, Ong Ban Khoon and the team to bring out the real taste of food that is compatible to the authentic Japanese cuisine. Another highlight goes to the absence of alcohol used in making out a Muslim-friendly dining hall. This is definitely a great space for diners including the Muslims to enjoy Japanese food with a peace of mind.

Allow Sake No To-nyu Jiru (Creamy salmon miso soup) as the entree before the main dish.

Get some finger food, kids must be like it very much.

What about the traditional Japanese appetizer?
Don't forget to grab the smooth and creamy Chawanmushi (steamed egg custard) as well.

2. Assorted Sushi
As sushi is a staple of Japanese cuisine, it is a must to pick up at least one or two for a refreshing savore too. They are freshly prepared and replenished from time to time to ensure your continuous satisfaction in terms of great taste and freshness.

Sushi fans, get it all you can!

Nicely presented tako (octopus).

Hira-zukuri cuts (rectangular slice) of salmon sashimi.

3. Seafood Galore
Here's some abundant source of minerals to keep you in good reproductive health. Treasure of the sea are freshly lay for your pick and also cold cuts, too.

Eat them fresh.

You could also opt for salad for the sake of balanced diet.

4. Marvellous Cheese Corner
If you were a Japanese food mania, you must've known that Japanese are really brilliant in innovate and infuse cheese (beside matcha) into food and beverage (despite it's diary production by the westerns). At Spoon Cafe, you have the opportunity of unlimited tasting more than simply biting into it.

Gouda Cheese.

Edam Cheese.

Brie Cheese.

Emmental Cheese.
(My top pick!)

5. Mouth-watering Dessert
This is normally served at the end as a completion of your meal yet ironically, it's the climax to the sweet-tooths and ladies, especially. G Hotel's in-house dessert has always been a great anticipation over its variety and most importantly, the wonderful taste to fly you high! (Stop screaming, girls! XD)

Creative art piece including selected pastries and confectioneries.

Chocolate fountain with assorted fruits and tidbits.

Glutinous ball with sesame fillings in thick red bean soup (Zenzai soup).

Spot your favourite pick?
Some features include purin, green tea red bean mousse, Hokkaido cup cake and Japanese cheese cake.

6. Strategic location between shopping malls and comfortable dining space
It's no longer a big issue to you as Spoon Cafe at G Hotel Kelawai is strategically situated between Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon Mall. Just a minute or two of walking distance, you've already stepped into either one of the one-stops to do grocery shopping after that or get into limited sales or even a lovely movie date.

Being a old-school people, I was pleasant to step into the dining space floored with Peranakan-inspired cement tile.

Extensive simple interior including wooden dining tables and chairs, not to forget, aesthetic circus pendant lights leads to the sophisticated ambience.

Moreover, the overlooking of Kelawai road that is always lively with relentless traffic flow adds up some captivating scene to stimulate your appetite too. Simply perfect for a casual dinner with your loved ones or even a corporate engagement.

7. G Signature drinks
Despite complimentary free flow of sky juice, you may opt something special to spark thru your beverage. Introducing some in-house signature drinks to skyrocket your food enjoyment at Spoon Cafe.

From left to right of three cocktails:
Pomegranate Mojito
Lychee Smash
Cili Lada
(Each RM 38)

I chose Watermelon Pudina (RM 21) which is under mocktails category.
Every refreshing sip is smoothly infused by the blended fresh mint leaves.

And of course, there're more for you discover besides these highlights as mentioned. Others include Action Station where the chef skillfully showcase you via all the Teriyaki food. Ice cream and fruits are another great choices to bottom up your satisfaction.

Jom, Iftar Feast with Tok Wan 101 Recipes

I really agree as the saying goes, when there's a will, there's a way. True to say that food hunting is already the life-long mission to everyone.
Sometimes we may get bored of the meal routine and you gotta put aside this little worries aside, simply because it's Bulan Ramadan now! Vistana Penang Bukit Jambul has just launched the popular Tok Wan 101 Recipes dinner buffet, open to public from 29th May to 24th June 2017.

Here I have the food highlights among 101 dishes. First, some starters to tantalize your taste buds

Buah Kurma (Date Palm)

The Prophet said: “Break your fast by eating dates as it is purifying,”
Despite the religious belif, personally I enjoy its naturally optimum sweetness, nice one to kick off our meal, ain't it?

 *whispering* "Yusuf Taiyoob"
You know it's Ramadan time when the advertisement is back on radio broadcast! 😂

Ketupat

Not to missed the traditional malay food.

Hainan Chicken Rice

The mains

Few different servings of cockles and balitung

Left: Ikan Cencaru
Right: Ikan Keli

Both are my favourite, yum!

Chinese fusion

Tofu
(bean curd) and taugua with cili berempah, simply warming complemented with white rice.
 Next, the most-anticipated, Bakar-bakar corner!
Kambing Panggang.

Freshly grilled satay.

Personally, it outstands a lot as compared to that served by others

Ulam corner
 More to ala kampung

Dried fish

Another ala kampung dish, best serving with complimentary sauce.
(翻身翻身 咸鱼都会翻身 😜)

Starts feeling full? 😮 No way, you gotta regret for saying so. 😏

 Dodol

Selection flavour of keropok, suitable for all ages!
"Uncle, roti kosong satu,"

It's pretty amazing to see Roti Canai stall set up in hotel, you can have the best taste of Roti Canai as it is serve upon your request!
Chicken Murtabak, best consumed with pickled onion, personal favourite as well as my high school after-school makan memory!

Time for Pencuci mulut!

Jeruk Buah-buahan(Pickled tropical fruits)

You no longer need to travel to Balik Pulau or even the famous Jeruk Madu Pak Ali franchise store to fix your craving, grab them all as you wish!

Left: Ais Kacang
Right: AisKrim Sumi

Some great remedies to cool you down in this sweltering evening, better yet, it's about childhood memories! Remember how we used to wait for a specific time, be it 6pm and wait for the uncle come with his bike? 😋

Fresh Cut Fruits

What about obtain some natural sweetness from the fruits? Nangka, my all-time favourite available, too!
Aneka kuih-muih
(Assorted cakes)

This is one of the signatures of Malaysian food. You don't have to choose wisely among a wide variety of them because there's no such rule of 4 ketul 2 ringgit anymore. 😍 So c'mon guys, ambik je apa-apa yang you suka makan!

Selections of pudding. I found out they are quite laku, blame on sweet tooth I know right.

Assorted dessert. Another ladies' exclusively corner, I suppose?

Lastly, the buffet feast will be held in ground floor ballroom where the hotel is complete with ample parking spaces, providing you the convenience to gather even with a large group of attendees.
